The House of Representatives has passed a motion sponsored by Rep. Nnamdi Ezechi, urging the Federal Government to intensify security operations in the South-South region of Nigeria. The motion, which received overwhelming support from lawmakers across party lines, calls for a comprehensive review of the region's security architecture.

The motion specifically calls for increased deployment of security personnel, establishment of additional checkpoints on critical roads, and the convening of a stakeholders' summit between security agencies and community leaders. It also urges the Inspector General of Police to fast-track the posting of senior officers to Delta State and surrounding states.

Rep. Ezechi stated on the floor of the House: "The security of citizens is the primary duty of government. The people of Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West and Ukwuani deserve to live and conduct their businesses in peace. This motion is a call to action — not a partisan statement." The Federal Executive Council has been given 30 days to respond with a concrete security action plan for the region.
