Rep. Nnamdi Ezechi has officially sponsored a Bill before the 10th House of Representatives aimed at providing rural electrification to the Ukwa West and Ukwa East Federal Constituency in Abia State. The bill seeks to channel federal funds specifically for the electrification of rural communities that have been in darkness for decades.

The legislation, titled "Rural Communities Electricity Access Bill, 2024," proposes the establishment of a dedicated fund under the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to prioritize underserved communities across the country, with particular attention to the South-East geopolitical zone. Rep. Ezechi's bill has already received its first reading on the floor of the House.

Speaking after the bill's first reading, Rep. Ezechi stated: "The people of Ukwa West and Ukwa East have suffered too long without access to electricity. This bill is our commitment to changing that reality. Light is not a luxury — it is the foundation of development, education, and economic prosperity." The bill has been referred to the House Committee on Power for consideration and public hearing.
