In the 26th September, 2024 plenary, Rt. Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, Member Representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, presented a motion urging the federal government to intervene in the escalating erosion crisis that has severely affected Onyah community in Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Delta State.

In his presentation, Hon. Ezechi detailed the devastating impact of the erosion, which has led to the destruction of homes, schools, markets, and other critical infrastructure, leaving the community on the verge of being completely wiped out.

The motion was adopted by the House, calling on the Federal Government to urgently deploy relevant agencies to assess the extent of the erosion; mandating NEMA to provide immediate relief materials; urging the Federal Ministry of Environment to collaborate with the Delta State Government; and tasking relevant committees with regularly monitoring the situation in Onyah.
