The House of Representatives has passed a motion sponsored by Rep. Nnamdi Ezechi, urging the Federal Government to intensify security operations in South-East Nigeria. The motion, which received overwhelming support from lawmakers across party lines, calls for a comprehensive review of the region's security architecture.

The motion specifically calls for increased deployment of security personnel, establishment of additional military checkpoints on critical roads, and the convening of a stakeholders' summit between security agencies and community leaders. It also urges the Inspector General of Police to fast-track the posting of senior officers to all five South-East states.

Rep. Ezechi stated on the floor of the House: "The security of citizens is the primary duty of government. The people of the South-East deserve to live and conduct their businesses in peace. This motion is a call to action — not a partisan statement." The Federal Executive Council has been given 30 days to respond with a concrete security action plan for the region.
