Following the plenary session on the 26th of September, 2023, Hon. Nnamdi Ezechi, the distinguished representative of Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, embarked on an official visit to the headquarters of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) in Abuja.
During this visit, he engaged in a productive round-table dialogue with a group of TCN Management, including the General Manager of Engineering, Engr. Isyaku Dahiru, the Manager of Lines Project, Engr. Rabiu A. Bako, and the Manager of Substations, Engr. M. M. Bature. The focal point of this discourse revolved around the challenges impeding progress on the Okpai-Kwale Transmission line and substation projects.
Before his visit, Hon. Ezechi had been apprised, through prior correspondence, of the obstacles plaguing the electrification initiative, resulting in its unfortunate halt. These challenges primarily encompassed price variations, requiring additional funding to sustain the contractor's work.
Engr. Isyaku Dahiru, the General Manager of Engineering, highlighted one of the project's impediments, citing community-related issues that the contractor encountered while operating in the area. Some individuals within the community demanded monetary compensation from the contractor, compounding the project's difficulties.
Hon. Ezechi extended his unwavering support to TCN executives during the meeting and pledged to address the community-related hindrances that contributed to the project's standstill. He emphasized the paramount importance of the electrification project to the Ndokwa/Ukwuani populace and criticized those who obstructed its progress, asserting that they were acting contrary to the interests of the residents of Ndokwa communities.
Furthermore, he appealed to TCN executives for their support in securing increased fiscal allocation to expedite the crucial electrification project's completion.
